Latest News (updated 8th May)Committee News It is great that we are able to welcome two new members, Tess Attwell and Sarah Wilkinson, to the Committe. It is fantastic that we have additional people willing to serve on the Committee to help sustain and develop the activities of the Handforth Gardening Society. Ness Botanic Garden Visit There are just eight places remaining for our visit to Ness Botanic Gardens and Gordale Garden Centre on Saturday May 19th. Friends of members would be most welcome to come on the trip as well! Our trip will leave Handforth (Paddock Shopping Centre) at 9.00am. Cost of the trip is £20. Spring Show The Spring Show was very well supported by members of the Society. Results and pictures can be found here Village Show 2012. The Show will be held on Saturday July 14th, back in Honford Hall. Returning to our formeer venue has allowed us to re-instate the Art and Photography Sections. We also intend to have an additonal childrens class of a vegetable animal in addition to the "three vegetable" class. We hope to have the schedule available by the beginning of June. It will be available on-line as before. Plantfairs 2012 Details of local plantfairs can be found here. The Society Our society was established many years ago to promote interest in all matters connected with gardening and horticulture generally. It meets from September to May on the first Tuesday of each month. Each season brings a fine range of speakers on a wide selection of topics and in the summer trips and visits are arranged to places of horticultural interest. The club has a thriving membership of approximately 100. Meetings, Outings, Visits and other activities take place throughout the year. The Society organises the annual Handforth Village Show in July. If you are interested in taking part in this open show please contact a member of the committee. Every two years, a number gardens in the Handforth area are opened to the public for two days. New MembersNew members are always very welcome and if you would like to join the Society please contact a member of the committee.
