On June 5th, 2007 the Handforth Gardening Society visited Bluebell Cottage Gardens, near Warrington.
Bluebell Cottage Gardens and Lodge Lane Nursery are owned by Sue Beesley. Sue is pictured below, displaying her BBC Gardener of the Year Award trophy, with Society chairman, David Gilbert.
Sue gave a presentation to members describing the history of the garden and the reasons why she decided to take on the challenge of renovating the garden. After the presentation, we wandered around the magnificent garden with its large and varied herbaceous borders. Many Society members were tempted by the retail opportunity provided by the nursery which had several unusual plants. The more energetic members walked through the wildflower meadow to explore the woodland walk.
