Thirty-seven members and friends of Handforth Gardening Society visited the Doroty Clive Gardens in Woore, Staffs on May 14th 2011. The trip did not start well with torrential rain as we were bording the coach. When we got to the gardens though we did ont see a single drop!
The rhododendrons and the laburnum arch, underplanted with masses of alium were spectacular!

There were also a number of plants which were a botanical challenge to some of the members. Any idea Avril??

There were some stunning borders....

...and the pond area.

As well as a bit of wild-life.

After spending a very worthwhile three hours at the garden we called in at Bridgemere Garden Centre for a bit of retail therapy. Of course Bridgemere also had some excellent gardens (unfortunatrely, no pictures), besides massesof very tempting plants to buy.
When we arrived back in Handforth. Guess what?
It was heavy rain again!
So all in all I think that everyone had a great day out with the best of the weather on offer in the North West!
The committee would like to thank everyone who joined us on our day out.
There will be another next year. Tell your friends!
