    Italian Garden

  Piet Oudolf's Long Border

A total of 41 Gardening Society members and their friends

visited Trentham Garden on May 9th 2009.  We were

blessed with dry and sunny weather, though there was

a chill breeze coming off the lake when you were not in the

shelter of the woodland walk.  Though the Piet Oudolf garden

was just beginning to come to life again, the Italian Garden

looked magnificent.  The little show gardens behind the

children's play area were also very cleverly designed.

It is clear that alot of effort is being put into the development of the garden and

surrounding area.  Members also managed to come back home with lighter purses

and wallets after being tempted in the retail outlet.  For a number of members

the visit brought back happy memories of Sunday School trips and nights spent

dancing to the big band sounds of the1950s.
